in Pakistan.
Asad Ahmed
The Man from ‘Awaz’ and ‘Karavan’ and most recently, the member of the Coke Studio’s house band, Asad Ahmed is certainly one of the most energetic guitar players around the country. A true rock star, the 40-year-old has never really cared about melodic tunes,
but has always tried to play rock ‘n’ roll.
His guitar riffs remained limited during his stint with ‘Awaz’, but he really enjoyed performing with ‘Karavan’ and composed some impressive, pure rock songs like ‘Aagay hi Aagay’, ‘Shor’ and ‘Kaisay Mumkin Hai’.
Mekaal Hasan
Mekaal Hasan is one of the rarest Pakistani guitarists, who have never tried to do commercial music. There is no questioning whatsoever in his skills at the six string instrument, his musical knowledge and in his compositions. With his renowned Mekaal Hasan
Band, he blended rock with classical and formed a genre a genre gratifying for music lovers not only in Pakistan, but also around the globe. He never complicates his compositions. His solos are very well calculated, technique and melody at its best.
Salman Ahmad
Salman Ahmad used to be the member of ‘Vital Signs’, but left the band due to creative differences and formed ‘Junoon’ with Ali Azmat and Brian O’ Connell. His guitar skills were fluent during his stint with the Sufi Rock band that changed the musical scenario
in the country back in the 1990’s. His instrumentals like ‘Heer’ and ‘Jugal Bandi’ can very well distinguish his class from his peers.
