Annual budgets and general elections

Economy and modern politics are greatly interlinked. Economic reforms set political norms. This is common everywhere in the world—from Z A Bhutto’s Roti, Kapra, Makan (food, clothe, accommodation) to Barak Obama’s Change.
One thing is clear that this is totally an illusion, a sweet illusion indeed. But the way it is done in Pakistan is awful. Since the very inception of the country, every government has been using the tool of annual budget for getting undeserved advantages
before general elections. The current government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is also doing the same thing.
During last four years of its rule, the products of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) did nothing except ‘mourning’ over Benazir Bhutto’s death, paying expensive foreign visits, filling up their Swiss accounts, perpetrating heavy corruption, creating
new ministries and playing hide n seek with MQM.
Now, when the next general elections are drawing near, the presidency has announced to come up with a relief budget in June. Everybody knows what the ‘relief’ will be. No more than two percent will be reduced of the hundred percent price hike. On the other
hand, more taxes will be imposed to balance the so-called relief.
After getting this peanut, out silly people will start dance with joy and get ready to vote the rotten rulers again. It is two ridiculous. It is deplorable that we have not been able to understand these gruesome political tactics even after 65 years. Every
time we trust and every time we are humiliated. Every time we elect and e every time we are dejected. What a hell this drama is!
Come on innocent Pakistanis, do not be fool any more. Do not support the oppressors. Do not darken the future of your generations. For God’s sake.
The time is still in your hands. You are the masters of your fates. You have an invincible power of votes. The only thing you need is a sane thinking. It is the turning point in the history of Pakistan. If you do not turn now, believe me, you will doom
forever……!
