Currently fifth seed and former National Snooker Champion, Mohammad Sajjad of Sargodha has made his way successfully into the semi-final stage of 2012 Jubilee Insurance 37th National Snooker
Championship at the Karachi Gymkhana. Sajjad trashed third seed Sharjeel Mahmood in the quarter-final encounter by a terrific score line of 5-0.
Sajjad is definitely eyeing on the National Snooker title to clinch it for the third time. The Sargodha-born potter previously won the National Title two times, 2008 and 2010, in the past
five years.
Sajjad put up an excellent snooker show at the Karachi Gymkhana to whitewash his opponent at the end with impressive snooker shots. Mahmood was not able to capitalise back into the game
as Sajjad did not let him spend much time on the table.
Sajjad took the first scrappy frame quite easily with the score line of 57-45 after firing some fine small breaks. Mahmood did resist a bit when Sajjad missed a red but could not save
himself from the defeat. The second set was comparatively an easy victory for the former champ, as he cruised into the 58-13 score line in no time.
Sargodha’s Sajjad proved his class in the third frame with a cracking century knock of 127 points to claim the frame with 134-1. Fourth frame was quite tussling contest as both cueists
went neck and neck but in the end, Sajjad was victorious with 58-50 score line. The fifth frame proved to be the last of the match because Sajjad compiled a couple of impressive shots to hit the frame win by 94-37
Sajjad will next meet second seed Mohammad Asif in the penultimate stage of the tournament. Asif defeated local cueist Sohail Shahzad by the score line of 5-3 at the Karachi Gymkhana.
The 2012 Jubilee Insurance 37th National Snooker Championship is being televised by Geo Super.
