The Bourne Legacy 2012 – Early impressions
Thursday, February 9th, 2012 3:34:45 by Musa AfridiMatt Damon is gone as the Bourne series continues but is Jeremy Renner the perfect fit or is Hollywood trying to squeeze a few extra dollars from the series?
Fans of the Bourne trilogy rejoice, for another chapter in the Hollywood adaptations of the popular series of novels is set to hit the big screen this summer.
Well, we say rejoice, but without the Matt Damon, the Bourne we have become so used to seeing jump through windows, drive through crowded streets and partake in a few intense fight sequences, it seems that Hollywood made the move to replace him with Jeremy
Renner.
Renner who has shot to stardom in recent weeks is known for his roles in movies such as 28 Weeks Later, Thor and Mission Impossible 4. He is now set to appear in two films set for release this summer with the Bourne Legacy and The Avengers.
It was a bit of a pleasant surprise when the trailer for the movie ran during the Superbowl’s commercial break and seeing how Universal paid around $4-million for the 30 seconds of airtime, it did mark an impression.
The trailer gave off the same aura that the other movies in the series did with sharp and abrupt editing, the same feeling of being on the run constantly and plenty of suspense.
As for the plot, well from what we could gather, Legacy is set after Ultimatum, which was the third instalment in the series, but the story will go back and forth between the different previous films.
The tag line is also quite interesting as it reads, “There never was just one”, which means that this could be the first of many different Bourne’s set to feature in the film. This holds true to the novels as well, seeing how Robert Ludlum’s series ran an
impressive 11 books.
The movie is scheduled for release on the 3rd of August this year.
Oh and we forgot to mention one other important factor that definitely raised the movies appeal tenfold: Edward Norton, who many know as the actor who was in Fight Club and played Bruce Banner in the Hulk, is also in the film.
