Zavisa surprised with the talents of Pakistani colts
Thursday, February 9th, 2012 4:47:19 by Shahrukh SohailPakistan National team coach Zavisa Milosavljevic was overwhelmed with the quality of players on display in the U-14 Championship.
It is no secret that the Green-Shirts have a never ending stream of talent at their disposal and many in the past have acknowledged this.
George Kottan, who worked with perhaps the strongest Pakistani line-up on paper, was disappointed back in 2009 as he declared that the country should have been an Asian heavy weight considering the quality of the players they have.
“Pakistan should have been one of the top Asian countries in football. Whenever, I come across Pakistan’s youth and see them playing, I really get impressed and always think that Pakistan can become a football power in Asia if they focus on building their
youth on solid footings.”
Current coach Zavisa Milosavljevic who has been managing the team since last November was also startled by the Pakistani youngsters plying their trade in the National U-14 Championship in Islamabad.
“I am surprised over the sort of talent Pakistan has,” he said after seeing the starlets perform in the Capital.
The Green-Kickers lifted the U-16 SAFF Cup in Nepal in August last year, which was a testament to their undoubted abilities. However if the side are to groom into a force on the International stage, they must nurture the youth, who find opportunities hard
to come by in the country.
