The rescue operation ended after recovering the body of 35-year-old Nadeem Ishaq on Thursday night.
The rescue and Edhi workers were not alone in this mission, as they received help from Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation and Civil Defence volunteers. They also acknowledged the inhabitants of the arena for their utter help throughout the five-day operation.
The rescuers successfully pulled sixteen people alive from the wreckage of the factory, out of which only one died in the hospital due to severe condition.
The Rescue officials declared that 22 bodies were successfully recovered on February 7 while the remaining two were recovered on Thursday night.
An official of the city government expressed that they will convene a District Emergency Board meeting next week that will assemble a list of all dangerous buildings in the city. He also said that the demolition plans for these building would also be discussed
at the meeting.
On the other hand, Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik demanded explanation from the city police for filing murder charge in the FIR against the owner of the building, which collapsed on February 6.
The judge also banned the police from harassing the owners while the court heard the appeal sorted by Zafar Iqbal, Zaheer Iqbal and Zubair, who are the owners of the factory building that collapsed. The owners challenged the murder charge in the FIR that
was inserted by the police.
Moreover, their lawyer, Advocate Khurram Latif Khan Khosa claimed that the Sabzazar police had illegally charged his clients by filing murder charge in the FIR. He requested court to cancel the murder charge filed in the appeal against his clients.
He also requested that the investigation be handed over to an honest police officer while the judge warned police of harassing the owners and file a reply by February 17.
