Former undisputed world heavyweight champion, Lennox ‘The Lion’ Lewis has insisted he wants to train the former WBA world heavyweight champion, David Haye, in trying to get ready against the current WBC heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko.
Haye, who is more commonly known as the Hayemaker, fought Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir Klitschko in a highly-anticipated unification fight for the heavyweight titles back on July 2, 2011 at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
The brash Londoner made a lot of promises but on the fight night he lost his title to Wladimir via a unanimous point’s decision. Haye desperately wanted to avenge his defeat but when Wladimir turned his offer down, he walked away from the sport.
Nevertheless, nowadays Haye is insisting that he will make a comeback, if he gets a chance against any of the Klitschko brothers but Lewis believes Haye will simply waste his time even if he gets a chance against Vitali. Lewis suggested Haye should win a couple of fights before taking on Vitali and if the Brit does so, he will train him for Vitali.
Lewis told The Mirror, “Now Haye’s talking about fighting Vitali, but what is he going to do any differently against the better Klitschko? If he jumps straight back in against Vitali, he would be wasting his time. He needs to beat a couple of guys first to build his confidence. But if it happens….. sure, I’ll train him. You can teach an old dog new tricks. But he will need to prepare to get hurt.”
Lewis defeated Vitali at the Staples Center back in 2003 in their much-anticipated fight and in 2004 he officially announced his retirement from the sport but many out there want him to fight Vitali for at least one more time.
However, Lewis has confirmed now that he has no plans of entering in the ring again.
He confirmed, “People keep asking me if I’m coming back because there’s only one fight out there the Klitschkos can sell. But unfortunately for them, it’s against a 46-year-old who retired eight years ago and the answer is no, I’m not making a comeback.”

Lennox Lewis, though get the fight results in his favour in 2003 however was badly beaten by Vitali, i.e. he didn’t show any desire to come back in the ring.
Lewis couldn’t get with the fact that Klitschko are still ruling heavyweight boxing division and he is advising unsuccessfully various boxers how to beat Klitschko brothers.
Quite funny what Lewis himself can’t do, advising others how to do 🙂 Good luck to David Haye.
