Corruption for the sake for promotion
Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 10:30:41 by Sharjeel AhmadUnfair play is the thing that is always rewarded in Pakistan. Historically speaking, all fraudulent men have prospered. On this part of the planet, corruption works as a ladder for promotion. The more you are corrupt, the more you have chances to flourish.
The news of promotion of two City District Government Lahore (CDGL) officials, who daringly perpetrated huge corruption in fumigation purchase during last summer’s dengue havoc and played with the lives of hundreds of innocent citizens, is a slap on the
faces of all the politicians and administrators who churn out democracy and justice from day to night. Shame on them.
This is the way Pakistan has gone to dogs. The country, where rascals turn to be rulers, can never get out of problems and predicaments. The parliament, which is made of the beneficiaries of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), can never make human friendly
laws. The leaders, who take treatment of even minor flues from UK on public taxes, can never realize the pain of the sting of dengue. So what about the democracy? Just illusion, Just deception, noting else.
All we are living in fools’ paradise where sweet delusions are ready to befool us every day and we think we understand this shitty politics well.
What I have cited in this article is just a minor example of grafts in the country which goes up every year in world corruption index. From assembly halls to secretariat houses and from public universities to hospitals, all are packed with sleaze. Day in
day out, you experience immense corruption around you. It seems that treachery has immersed in our blood and we are forced to live with it.
No change, no betterment and no progress is possible unless our administrators get honest and this can never happen unless we get honest individually. Mahatma Ghandi rightly said, “Be the change that you want to see in the world”. So everyone of us is to
demonstrate fair play in our dealings and then jointly pick such rulers who can ensure justice and honest at all levels.
