Chinese company Huawei released its new handset, the Meizu MX – Part 3
Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 5:36:28 by Usman KhalidHowever, MX certainly has its other major rival, the Mi-1, known in China by the name of its manufacturer, Xiaomi. The releases of both smartphones have coincided in China which may hinder MX’s success in the market. But both seek to expand their horizons beyond the borders of the Asian market. In fact, the latter has already announced that soon it will skip the strait that separates China from Taiwan. But first the company has to combat negative monikers attached to Chinese products, ‘made in China’. There the Mi-1 managed to sell 100,000 units in the first three hours since its debut, and over 400,000 in one month. But it seems that the only factor that has helped Mi-1 to manage such a big success is 1,999 Yuan (246 euros) which is one of the cheapest smartphones in the country. It is marketed as “the world’s fastest phone,” less convinced for the MX.
Even if its processor is faster, clocked at 1.5 GHz, the weight of MX at 149 grams is something of a disadvantage against its competitors, and users who already have their handsets for heaviness are eager to open the Pandora’s box on Huawei’s handset. The finish of the handset is also not as elegant per se and critics are pointing their arrows at quality of phone and its services. “The paint gets cracked quickly, the phone turns itself off by itself and it is impossible to load.” Comments like these filled Internet forums and the floating anger is pouring in. But many are looking forward to the Mi-2. “You have to allow time for China’s industry in order to catch up, we’re on our way”, added a representative.
