Tuesday, February 14, 2012: Indian Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textile Anand Sharma, said that India is extending its arm towards Pakistan and wants to write a new chapter in the history of its relations.
The Minister said that the economic balance is shifting from West to East and Asia is fast becoming the business hub of the world. For the very reason, India wants to develop good cordial relationship with its neighbouring country,
Pakistan, so that both countries can create new opportunities for each other.
Sharing his views with the business community at a ceremony organised by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Anand said, “Let’s write a new chapter in the history of the two countries. Let’s make the most of changing
economic dynamics of the modern world that have posed both threats and opportunities to us.”
The Indian Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textile continued, “I speak as a as a representative of the people of India and not just as a minister. India wants to engage Pakistan and write a new essay of trust and friendship
to change the future of this region.”
Pakistan and India are slowly but surely moving in the right direction with business talks. Anand’s visit to Pakistan has been a fruitful one as the two sides are close to signing various contracts. All new pacts would push the
two countries towards liberal trade and commerce like easy visa policies, opening of bank branches in both countries and many other important steps.
Both India and Pakistan are developing countries, and lack of resources has been a problem for both sides. But the Minister believes that the two countries can overcome these issues once they start collaborating with each other
on regular basis.
He said, “Economic engagement will help conquer all the challenges we face today. We want to see both countries sharing their knowledge and technology so that the people benefit from the economic engagement.”
