Kishore Lulla of Eros International, the global integrated media and entertainment company, believes Bollywood industry will rule the world in the next ten years.

Kishore, one of the richest Indian with a net worth of 240 million pounds and with a family fortune of 206 million pounds as per The Sunday Times rich list in 2011, while giving his expert opinion on the Indian cinematic industry admitted the fact that Hollywood is far ahead of Bollywood but he is confident that with the new-age technology, it’s only a matter of time when Bollywood will overshadow the American film industry.

He said, “Bollywood today is where Hollywood was in the 1940s. It’s at exactly the same point, structurally. But, what Hollywood did in 50 years, India will do in ten. This will be made possible by today’s new-age technology, such as the internet and because India is booming.”

Bollywood movies were previously not watched by many out there but now Indian films are followed by millions of people all over the world as a result to which quite a number of Indian movies have crossed a Rs. 100 crore mark at the Indian box office. Keeping these figures in front, Kishore Lulla, who has played a significant role in the launch of the UK’s first 24-hour Bollywood digital satellite and pay TV channel on the BSkyB platform, insisted that Bollywood industry will become a global phenomenon in the next 10 years.

He added, “This is reflecting in the box office revenues where some Indian movies have started clocking over Rs 100 crore. That day is not far when a Bollywood film will gross $100 million within two weeks and that’s the day when the world will also take note of Bollywood. I am convinced that the growth has started and Bollywood will become a global phenomenon in the next 10 years. India is doing all the right things.”

Hollywood industry is certainly way ahead of Bollywood but it is nowhere near to Bollywood when it comes to the production because currently Bollywood is producing almost over 700 films a year.
