HP Pavilion dm4-3090se: A complete review – Part 1
Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 5:11:37 by Usman KhalidHewlett-Packard has been thriving to lead the laptops market by throwing in a host of new machines every now and then. In addition to full and mid size notebooks, the company has taken the ultrabook niche into its stride of late. However, after the successful release of the HP Envy 14, HP has thrown in a mid size notebook, called the Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats.
Yes, the new machine comes with a host of new feature including Beats Audio, with which HP shook hands in 2011. However, dm4 is the first mid size notebook to incorporate the technology. The laptop also has a backlit keyboard, another appreciative extra in the casing.
At first glance, the laptop gives a look of a bulky medium-sized laptop at the time when ultrabooks are pouring in the market like hoards, but that is all what gives it a punch. The finishing though gives a plasticky touch to it but HP has covered that with excellence.
The whole body, including the screen, has a matte finish to it, covering the tracks of plastic elegantly. Even the keyboard has a matte finish and the red glow inside the keys is the icing.
The matte finish to the screen is a rarely seen attribute in contemporary laptops but it gives a clearer image to the naked eye although it compromises on the vividness, it has its pros in the day light.
In addition, the screen is a 14-inch display has a revamped and pumped up 1,600×900 resolution that is an upgrade to traditional 1,366×768 resolution found in most of 14-inch screens. The pixels quantity is just perfect for a 14-inch display within the constraints of a reasonable budget. More advanced resolution of 1,920×1080 pixels makes the text hard to read and is an expensive upgrade.
