Kevin Pietersen looking forward to his stint with Delhi Daredevils

Aggressive English batsman, Kevin Pietersen is delighted to resume his Indian Premier League journey with Delhi Daredevils. After spending three years with Royal Challengers Bangalore, KP last year joined Deccan Chargers. However, he could not take part
in the fourth season of the T20 league due to surgery.

Pietersen will be a part of Delhi crew this year, and the attacking batsman is hopeful to be consistent in the cash-rich tournament.

"There is no doubt that the Indian Premier League is an exciting competition and I am delighted to back after having to miss out last season because of a surgery," Pietersen said in a statement.

"When I look at the squad list, I am sure that Delhi Daredevils will regain the consistency it has shown in the first three editions when it won 24 games," he added.

KP is going through a severe batting slump these days. In the recently-concluded Test series against Pakistan, he failed to play a big innings. Sustaining his lean patch in the limited-over cricket, the right-hander is yet to hit a special knock in the ongoing
One Day International series against the hosts, Pakistan. In the opening two matches at Abu Dhabi, he struggled against spin.

The South Africa-born batsman has been facing difficulties against spinners over last few months. He will have to play on spin friendly wickets in India during next edition of IPL and thus, KP indeed needs to iron out his flaws against spinners.

The Daredevils failed to do anything special in last year’s event. Under Virender Sehwag’s captaincy, the side could not produce positive results in the opening part of the championship. Due to a shoulder injury, Sehwag left the side in the midst of the
tournament, and that made situation even worst for the Delhi outfit.

However, mentor of team T. A. Sekar is hopeful of a great show this year, saying that KP’s inclusion will be a huge morale booster for the side.

"Kevin’s transfer from Hyderabad, the successful bidding for Mahela Jayawardene and young allrounders Andre Russell (West Indies) and Douglas Bracewell (New Zealand) are all steps in the right direction," he said.
