What should Microsoft do to become a success in the tablet industry? – Part 2
Saturday, February 18th, 2012 6:49:43 by Usman KhalidApple has a closely knit web of developers and even those who belong to third-party companies follow a certain level of competence to address the standards set by Apple for its App Store. This is why all Apple applications have a similar smoothness and lack of stutter and ease of use.
On the other hand, Android has become desktop-Windows XP of the tablet industry. Developers have a different attitude toward developing applications for Google’s operating system.
That has to stop but MS has an Ace card up its sleeve to turn attention from both iOS and Android toward Win 8. The company has had a harsh and ruthless experience in the smartphone industry, where they committed two crimes that were lethal to nearly deathly.
First one was their mistake of entering the contemporary smartphone market with Windows Phone very late. Microsoft is one of pioneers of such industry and yet they are the underdogs.
Secondly they were snubbed by Apple and Android’s developers’ pool and since the current industry is all about after sale services and applications, the company, upon its entrance, landed face-first.
They should not make the same mistake this time around and should lure more developers to the Win 8 platform and should lay out some standards for the quality of work like Apple.
