Arsenal’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny feels that the Gunners can still make a comeback after suffering a shocking 4-0 defeat in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League clash against the Italian champions AC Milan.
After a disastrous night at San Siro which crushed Arsenal dreams of lifting the Champions League trophy, the Pole thinks that Arsenal can hit back. He knows that it’s really difficult but anything is possible.
“It’s not impossible to come back but it’s going to be very difficult,” he told Arsenal Player. “Milan showed how good they are tonight and it’s going to be very difficult. We showed last week against Blackburn how good we can be if we are on the front
foot and if we manage to score an early goal then anything can happen.”
Arsenal recently slaughtered Blackburn with a stunning 7-1 score line. They also edged past the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light with a late goal by Thierry Henry, Gunners’ living legend. However, after a drastic performance against the Italian side which
will cause the North London side to lose against the Italian side for the first time at this stage of the Champions League, the Polish keeper believes they have the strength to bounce back and advance.
Szczesny was further quoted, “We have quality attacking players and we can score goals so why not? But we have to realise that it’s going to be really, really difficult. It was a very difficult night and it’s hard to take right now. We have to admit that Milan
were the better team and they completely deserved the victory. It’s hard to take but hopefully we can pick ourselves up.”
The Invincibles are out from the Carling Cup and are far behind in the Premier League title race. They are at brink of crashing out from the Champions League and it looks like another trophy less season for the Gunners.
“We’re full of belief that we can still have a successful season. It’s a big blow for us tonight but I’m confident we’ll pick ourselves up and do our best in all the games we have coming up.”
Arsenal needs to raise their level of game if they want to inch closer towards lifting their maiden title since seven years.
