Apple released the beta version of its new desktop operating system Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion – Part 4

Reminders and Notes have been two of the most used apps on iOS devices and though Mac OS X housed these standalone applications, they have been revamped for better and efficient synchronization with other iOS devices via iCloud. They are also integrated with Notifications Center.

Mountain Lion not only has updates inherited from iOS but it also has a number of new features that have not been seen either on iOS or previous version of OS X. One of them is a security feature.

Apple has always been keen and sensitive on the issue of security of its operating systems and with the help of different restrictions and standardized approvals, it has managed to make Mac OS X and iOS, two of the most secure operating systems in the world. In that regard, the company has introduced a new feature in the Mountain Lion that will put restriction on the installation of new apps on the discretion of the user.

There are three levels of security on the installation of new software:

• Mac App Store
• Mac App Store and identified developers
• Anywhere

Apple has always been in cautious about the level of work done on applications and iOS has a more secure system for the approval and disapproval of apps from third parties. Although Mountain Lion has been given the leverage of allowing unapproved applications the security is tight around every program installed on the operating system. The user will be able to install any program or application on the desktop or laptop despite the security level but security notifications will pop up in any event of infringement or malware suspicion, if any third party application that has not been approved by Apple seems to show signs of.
