Apple released the beta version of its new desktop operating system Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion – Part 5
Monday, February 20th, 2012 6:20:57 by Usman KhalidAnother update to the new OS is the adaptability to Chinese syntax and applications. Due to the reason that China is on the verge of becoming the biggest market for Apple products, the company has complemented the market segment with the addition of applications dedicated to the Chinese public.
This is another non-iOS addition to OS X aimed at Chinese users, including system-wide tie-ins to local search engines and content sharing sites. That includes Baidu search in Safari, integration with QQ, 126 and 163 in Mail, and sharing to services like Sina weibo, Youku and Tudou. Apple’s also made some adjustments to its text input for Chinese users’ typing in with simplified and traditional Chinese, along with a dictionary the company says will be more frequently updated to keep up.
The application that is missing is also the application that is making news of late. iOS 5 came with a virtual assistant called Siri that has made news portals its second home. The flamboyant and extremely interactive app is however, missing in OS X 10.8. Apple might have a number of reasons for the action but its inclusion might have become the icing on the best cake in the market. Apple might have excluded Siri as Mac devices are not so mobile in nature and therefore are not so interactive.
However, the company also said that Mountain Lion is a work in process and might have several new updates after getting a wide approval from developers all over the world. But it is highly unlikely that Apple will include iOS sweatchild into Mountain Lion and it might have strong reasons for it.
It has been less than a year since the release of Mac OS X Lion in summers 2010.
