First Google it, then YouTube it – the best search technique

Everyone has had at least one moment in their life when they were told to Google something to find out. While Google on its own is great, it lays a greater emphasis on key words, text and only shows a few video links.

Google is great for getting one’s foundation in what he or she is looking for. Suppose one wants to listen to a song, but do not remember its name or the name of the artist. Simply type in the few lyrics you do know into Google and the results will have
the name of the piece of music.

The same is the case with movies, type the movie’s name in and you’ll get the cast, release date and vice versa.

But then again, suppose an aunty asks you for a cooking recipe or your nephew asks you to help out on his science project or something along those lines. Text is great and Google will provide plenty of it but a video would be better.

Once you have the key words and know what you’re looking for, head on over to YouTube and start browsing through the videos. Not only is it easier than reading but you actually get to see what you yourself have to do.

An example where this can be useful is where practical demonstrations are the most beneficial. Doing a summersault, assembling a part, providing First Aid, etc are all examples of how YouTube can provide better results than Google.

At this point one could argue that Google does link you to YouTube and while that is absolutely true, it only links one or two videos, while YouTube may have a hundred if not thousands more.

All we are saying is that if a person has no clue what they’re looking for then Google is the place to go, but if they do know and want a practical example or visual portrayal of it, well, in that case there is nothing better than YouTube.
