Karachi: (Tuesday, February 21, 2012) Federal minister for Interior, Rehman Malik announced today in Sindh Assembly that the government was to issue a red notice through Interpol to arrest former President Pervez Musharraf and
he would be brought back to Pakistan.
Malik was briefing the provincial legislators on development on the investigation of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s murder case.
During the briefing session, the minister for interior alleged Musharraf of not providing BB with the promised security.
He said before Benazir’s arrival to Pakistan, the former president general Musharraf in the presence of Mark Segel threatened Benazir to not to come Pakistan, or else remain ready to face the consequences. To which, BB said that
she would decide about homecoming herself.
Malik also said that about 27 terrorist groups were involved in BB’s assassination.
Sharing details of the investigations, Malik said there was a phone call regarding the incident in their notice, and after a gap of about one and a half hour, the SIM was used again, on the basis of which the investigators succeeded
in arresting the culprits.
He claimed that with the help of the arrested man, details regarding the bombers’ stay at particular seminary and about their execution plan were unearthed. He said from the planner to executioner, everyone was identified and arrested
during the investigation.
Highlighting the fact that there were multiple attempts on the life of the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, the interior minister said that one of the attacks was planned by Khalid Sheikh and his brother.
Malik expressed the hope for the case to reach a logical conclusion soon.
