David Haye will not fight Dereck Chisora at all says Adam Booth
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012 1:25:24 by Imran Shaukat KhanAdam Booth, the manager and trainer of former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, has confirmed that his man has no plans of taking on former the British heavyweight champion, Dereck Chisora.
Haye and Chisora squared up and fought each other in the post-fight press conference of Chisora’s twelve round unanimous decision defeat to the current WBC heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko. Therefore, many out there are thinking of a possible grudge match between the two but Booth has confirmed there is no such thing happening.
“David is still retired, he has no plans to fight again,” Booth told BBC Radio Five Live. “He’s always said the only people he would come out [of retirement] to fight is one of the Klitschko brothers and what happened on Saturday night doesn’t change that one bit.”
Haye and Vitali were having negotiations but things didn’t work out between the Brit and the Ukrainian and as per Booth, Bernard Boente and Vitali were responsible for breaking off the negotiations.
However, when asked Boente, he said it is not true at all. Boente insisted Vitali wanted to fight David Haye but it didn’t work out because Haye and Booth demanded a lot of money. He said team Haye wants a huge financial guarantee plus 50% of the British pay-per-view revenue, which doesn’t make any sense.
“What Adam Booth said is not true. We had an offer on the table and they did not accept that offer, therefore they will not fight. Vitali always said that he would fight David Haye. We are looking for the right opponent, but the business case also has to be okay. Adam Booth and David Haye are asking for a huge ridiculous guarantee, plus 50% of the British pay-per-view and we will not accept that. Honestly, he’s not a superstar anymore. He’s just a challenger, “Boente said.
The 31-year-old brash Londoner, more commonly known as the Hayemaker, lost his title to Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir Klitschko, the current WBA (Super)/IBF/WBO/IBO and Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion, on July 2 last year at the Hamburg’s Football Arena in Germany.
Well, all said and done, let’s see if a fight between Haye and Vitali is ever made.
