Zavisa confident about Pakistan’s future
Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 4:49:40 by Shahrukh SohailPakistan coach Zavisa Milosavljevic expressed his confidence that the Green-Kickers could develop into a great side in the future due to the talent in the country.
Taking the hot seat from Tariq Lutfi in November last year, Serbian coach Zavisa Milosavljevic combated all odds as he guided the country to the SAFF Cup. Although they crashed out, Pakistan remained unbeaten and were definitely a more organized unit.
Historically deemed as a gross underachieving team, the Green-Kickers have failed to make the most of the resources at their disposal, while the likes of India have taken major strides in development.
However Pakistani talent is one thing that remains undoubted and Zavisa claimed that it could lead to brighter future for football in the country.
Speaking to reporters, the coach said that Pakistani youngsters were quite talented and could lead the country in the near future.
“Definitely, Pakistani nation has great potential. I saw a lot of talented young players.”
He also added that the starlets were involved in the league but it would take some time before the National team could start reaping the benefits of it.
“All teams in the Premier League must have youth categories as a condition to participate in the league. It’s known that creating a top level national team requires a period of at least eight to ten years.”
“ In that building period players must pass throughout five developmental phases: period of learning, game, and mini-competition (8-14 years), period of learning, pre-training and competition (14-16 years), period of training and competition (16-18 years),
period of super training and competition (18 years and more); and period of super training and super competition (senior national team).”
Lastly, he added that the U-16 team that triumphed in Nepal last year, could also be moulded into a competitive unit, but proper training should be provided to them for this.
“If they meet the requirements I have mentioned, I must say that the young guns could be prepared properly,” The former Lesotho boss was quoted as saying.
