The key person of the memo gate scandal, Mansoor Ijaz, recently made a visit to the Pakistani High Commission in London in order to record his testimony. The recording of the testimony took place through a video link in front of the memo commission.
Mansoor Ijaz had not committed to visiting Pakistan in order to give his testimony to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the memo case as he had said that there was a threat to his security in the country. As a result, the key person in the memo gate case
was asked to give his testimony through the video link.
Mansoor Ijaz, the America based Pakistani businessman had alleged that the former Pakistani ambassador to the United States had passed on a memo to the US which asked for the help of the super power in order to reign in the military of Pakistan. The memo
indicated that it had originated from some high ranking government office in Pakistan despite the fact that it was unsigned. The reason for asking for the reigning in of the military of Pakistan was because the government of Pakistan ruled by the Pakistan
People’s Party was concerned that a coup may take place because of the death of Osama bin Laden.
The recording of the testimony of Mansoor Ijaz took place two days ago, today being the third one. The former Pakistani ambassador to the US has accepted that the memo was received by him. The testimony by Ijaz states that was had been on the receiving end
of phone calls by Hussaon Haqqni regarding the delivery of the memo to the US.
In order to carry out the investigation the blackberry phone bill of Hussain Haqqani is being analyzed to see if any evidence can be found.
The country of Pakistan is already engulfed in political crisis as its Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is being charged with contempt of court. The charge has been made against him because the Prime Minister of Pakistan had not complied with the orders
of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to re start an investigation against President Asif Ali Zardari.
