Time to think over our individual deeds

We always keep on spitting on rulers and their corruption without even thinking about our own deeds as we have also become corrupt in one way or the other. Islam reveals that corrupt masses can never get pious leaders because they deserve only those who
are like them.

Observing these Islamic teachings, if we look around in our society in Pakistan, and our leaders, both seem to have stemmed from the same mentality, which is to get personal benefits on collective or national interest.

People always remain busy in devising plans to gain personal benefits with by all possible means whether fair or foul. Moral obligations have become worthless for these people who are now pursuing their own agendas.

Common people always blame rulers by calling them corrupt but never pay heed to their own deeds. Even a clerk in any public sector office does not miss a chance to get bribery, no matter whether it is just 50 rupees.

Similar case applies to the police department as people are afraid of going into police station to register a report because they know that Police will increase their problem instead of providing a solution.

These police officials are just like other corrupt people in the society, then why a corrupt man is afraid of police if he himself is like them.

The moral bankruptcy of people has reached to its climax and they think that achieving their personal gains is their right and the difference between what is right and what is wrong holds no significance for them.

Even a milkman never forgets to mix water, at times dirty water, in his milk to increase its weight. People have to give extra money to concerned officials in order to get a driving license.

Similar situation can also be observed in the passport office where agents charge extra money to save you from standing in the row.

Now corruption does not only belong to the ruling or elite class, as it has established its roots in every class. There is no morality in our society and only a few exceptions are left which will also fade away soon if things keep going in the similar direction.

We are not supposed to blame on our leaders when we are also corrupt. We do not deserve noble or pious leaders because only honest people deserve honest leader.

The only way to become a better society and to get a good ruler is that we should review our priorities of life and refine ourselves which will help the society to get rid of corruption and all other vices and will also help us to become a prosperous nation.
