Gaming devices: Which one is the better choice? – Part 1
Friday, February 24th, 2012 6:35:41 by Usman KhalidGaming has reached a whole another level since the advent of contemporary tablets and smartphones. Even the prodigy in portable gaming, the PlayStation had to change its lines to adjust to the growing culture of touch-screen interaction.
Sony Corporation recently announced its PlayStation Vita for those who want both key/joystick to play their games and those who want touch screens to interact with the software. The new PS Vita comes with a quad-core processor that does not only play handheld compatible games but can also run PC-DVDROM level stuff as well.
However, there is not one contender to win the hearts and souls of the gamers. Nintendo and Apple/Google are among the line of fighters in the market. Each of them brings its slew of applications and features.
We will go through each one of them one by one:
Nintendo 3DS
Sure, Nintendo rolled it out of the gate, but Nintendo’s portable 3D machine has found its feet and is actually off to a good start than the original DS–which is the best-selling handheld console of all time.
Aside from a glass-less 3D display, not a whole lot has changed since the DS. The graphics are definitely better, but I’ve yet to see them make the same jump that other systems have been able to do. The 3DS still relies on a stylus, too, which has become somewhat of a relic in every other tech medium. It’s certainly the best way to interact with the 3DS’ resistive touch screen, but to some gamers it’s a turnoff. In terms of graphics, the 3DS can’t contend with the Vita or some high-end iOS games.
