AFC Festival Project Manager John Whittle gave his backing to the host nation’s facilities saying that he was quite impressed with the amenities being prepared by the PFF for the Under-14 Football Festival.

The cricket-mad country is set to host the AFC U-14 Football Festival and as part of the preparations, the Asian ruling authority sent along an official to see how things were going.

John Whittle happened to be the man in-charge of overseeing everything and after examining the facilities which will be used in the upcoming tournament, he expressed his satisfaction as things were in order.

Speaking to reporters, he said that Pakistani enjoyed sporting events and that he was taken aback with the high level of facilities being put for use in the upcoming festival.

“Pakistan is a sports loving nation and I am impressed with the facilities, preparations which were made for the hosting of the AFC Under-14 Football Festival in Pakistan at Pakistan Sports Complex from April 3 to 17.”

He also praised the work of the PFF over the last few years and revealed that the Federation had executed everything according to plan for AFC event.

"Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is doing a remarkable job especially from the last four years and I am sure, Pakistan will organize the Asian Under-14 Football Festival in a befitting manner as the arrangements are looking up to the mark and by April
2 everything would be in shape."

He also approved the stance taken by the Federation to field the U-16 and U-19 National teams in the Challenge Cup, saying that it would help the youngsters develop their game, as no proper system was adhered to in the country.

"As there is no major league system exists in Pakistan, but they can take their brilliant talent forward through taking part in Challenge Cup, President’s Cup, Olympic qualifiers and then even go on to play in the world cup qualifiers. By going through that
procedure Pakistan can help out its talented youngsters."

Lastly, he said that he was looking forward to the AFC festival and reiterated that Pakistan could be quite a successful host nation.

"I have been here for three days. I have visited the facilities and I am quite satisfied with all the arrangements and already looking forward to witness a successful and memorable AFC Under-14 Football Festival in Islamabad,” Whittle was quoted as saying.
