Samsung and its strategy with a host of tablets – Part 2

The WiFi is one of the most complex and elusive aspects of the devices. The main reason for such a complex variety is to offer the customers a range of options to choose from but as good that strategy sounds it is even more difficult to comprehend.

Another bit of buying advice when shopping for a Samsung tablet: beware the microSD card slot. Most of Samsung’s tablets include some form of microSD memory expansion, but a few go without. The notable examples here are the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 8.9. As with the iPad, you can buy dock adapters that allow you to transfer SD content to these tablets, but it’s not as handy as popping in a microSD card.

Although the company has a range from 5 to 10 inches of screen with different features but their flagship models vary in the bracket of 7 to 8 inches. The reality is that only two of these (the original Galaxy Tab 7 and the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus) are actually floating around on store shelves. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) are due out this year, and will likely enter the market once the original Tab 7 has been fully retired. So really, for most of 2012 there will probably be only be three different Samsung tablets with the number seven included in the product name.

Against the host of Samsung tablets, its archenemy, Darth Apple has only one device that started all this fuss, if you would. The iPad, no matter what, is the reigning king of the ring and since its first launch in 2010, it has been the most favourite of the tablet lovers.

Now that Samsung has established a precedence for its 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, they should focus on only two tablets. Some 7-inch slate that can easily take down Kindle Fire from the podium and the 10-inch device that can compete with both iPad and Asus Transformer Prime, another Android tablet that is hit huge sales numbers.
