Cheteshwar Pujara eyeing comeback to Team India
Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 1:00:26 by Rana Nasir GhafoorTalented Indian batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara has said that he will perform well in overseas condition if given a chance to represent national team.
Pujara’s comments came after India’s terrible performance in foreign condition over the past few months.
After suffering a humiliating 4-0 Test loss against England in England, the Men in Blue failed to do well in Australia.
After facing an embarrassing 4-0 whitewash in the Test series, the Indians produced nothing special in the one-day series. So far in the ODI competition, the tourists have won only two out of their seven matches.
No Indian batsman has been able to do anything special, as the entire batting line-up struggled on pace friendly tracks.
On the other hand, Pujara is confident of doing well in overseas conditions, insisting that he holds enough experience of playing abroad.
"I have had enough exposure playing in South Africa and have toured with the ‘A’ team to UK. Therefore, I believe that I have enough experience to perform in overseas conditions," said the 24-year-old cricketer.
"I want to make it to the Indian team. I want to do well in the domestic matches and score runs. I will try hard to make it to the Indian team as it is my dream. I want to play for as long as Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar," he said here on Monday.
Despite expressing disappointment over India’s recent poor show, the batsman was hopeful for a turnaround in the upcoming series. He believes the Men in Blue are good enough to bounce back and do well in the next month’s Asia Cup.
When asked about Sachin Tendulkar that whether the great batsman should hang his boots, Pujara said that as a youngster he cannot comment on the Master Blaster.
"I’m very positive about the Indian team. We have won the World Cup and we are the best ODI side in the world. With the Asia Cup coming up, I am confident of a good show. The longer he (Sachin) is in the team, the better it is for the country. The decision
of retirement should rest solely on him," he shared.
