First international snooker tournament is going to be commenced in Pakistan and the Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA) is looking forward to make it a success so that more
international events could be started in the future.
Meanwhile, one of the participating countries, India, has confirmed their presence in the tournament and has announced their squad. The Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PBSA)
received formal confirmation of participation from India in the 2012 Jubilee Insurance Six-Nation International Snooker Championship which will be held at the Hotel Pearl Continental from March 4 to 9.
According to the Indian board of snooker, Yasin Raza Merchant and Mohammad Faisal Khan will be representing India. The squad will reach Lahore from Mumbai on March 1.
Speaking to the local media, President PBSA Alamgir Anwar Shaikh said, “The PBSA now awaits the necessary clearance from the Ministry of Interior and other vetting agencies to be forwarded
to the Indian team to obtain the visa for Pakistan.”
A PBSA official added, “It’s a positive development. Both Indian cueists are experienced and their participation will be a big boost for the event. If the visas are issued on time, the
Indian team will arrive on March 1. We have requested the interior minister to intervene so that the event’s schedule remains unaffected.”
India is the first other four countries to confirm its participation for the event. However, China, Singapore, Thailand and Bahrain are yet to respond.
