Punjab’s Muhammad Asif made his way on top of the National Rankings after winning the 2012 Jubilee Insurance of 37th National Snooker Championship. The Punjabi potter was impressive against
the finalist from Sindh, Sultan Muhammad in the final of the event and defeated him easily to get to the top ranks. Asif replaced the former National Number one and the former National Snooker Champion, province mate Imran Shehzad, who slipped on 13th rank
after the nationals.
Asif showed great resilience during the National Championship and clinched his first ever National title at the Karachi Gymkhana Snooker Hall arena. Last year‘s rankings were topped by
the 2011 National Champion, Shahid Aftab could not perform accordingly and failed to surge into the finals nd even the rankings.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif and Sultan Muhammad have been selected to represent the country in the upcoming 28th Asian Snooker Championship at Doha in Qatar. They were chosen as
per the rules of Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA).
According to the rules, top two national potters will represent Pakistan in the Asian Snooker Championship. The Asian snooker event will commence from April 20 to 28, 2012. Asif will be
playing second time for the Asian event while Sultan is making his debut in the continental championship.
