Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has announced a six-man squad to represent Pakistan in the forthcoming 2012 Jubilee Insurance Six-Nation International Snooker Championship.
For the first time Pakistan will be hosting an international snooker tournament where potters from six snooker nations will take part.
The tournament will commence from March 4 at the Pearl Continental. Pakistan’s will be represented by Mohammad Asif, Sultan Mohammad, Mohammad Sajjad, Naveen Perwani, Abdul Sattar and
Sohail Shehzad.
Alamgir Anwar Shaikh, President PBSA, announced here on Monday a six-member Pakistani team for the Jubilee Insurance Six-Nation International Snooker Championship-2012.
Speaking to the local media, Alamgir Anwar Shaikh said, “These cueists have been selected on the basis of their ratings in the latest ranking chart. They are the top six cueists of the
country at the moment. They have been directed to report for a training camp in Karachi starting on February 28.”
He added, “After the training-cum-conditional camp on March 3, the cueists will be checking in at Pearl Continental to be joined by the foreign participants on the same date.”
According to a spokesman of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), the countries that will participate in the tournament excluding Pakistan are Egypt, India, Iran, Thailand and the UAE.
