Why the Spider-Man reboot is important

The Amazing Spider-Man will see the rebirth of the character on the silver screen but the release of the film will open up new opportunities for the franchise.
When Tobey Maguire pulled on the Spider-Man costume for the first time in 2002 it felt right. The movie was perhaps the best film to be based on a superhero or comic book character in ages.
It had depth, substance and action. Very few doubted a sequel and while the second and third parts were hits at the box office, neither could recapture the imagination the way the first film did.
One reason was that by the third film the series had become more of a romantic drama with a side story about the villains rather than the journey of discovery that the film was.
It is for that reason that the rebirth of the series with the Amazing Spider-Man is due, because the audience is ready for another similar journey without the complications of a love triangle.
Marc Webb is directing the movie and Andrew Garfield will play the shy, nerdy teenager who suddenly is endowed with superpowers.
The film is set to explore how Peter Parker becomes the web-slinger that many love and will also explore the relationship he has with Dr. Curt Connors.
Emma Stone also stars in the film and will be the obvious love interest of both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so one can expect that angle in the movie as well.
Yet, even with all of that said and done there is one other factor that many may not have realised. The Avengers movie is set to release this summer and will see Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and Thor team up
with S.H.I.E.L.D to take on Loki.
What some may not know is the fact that Spider-Man is also a member of the Avengers and that the reboot will pave the way for Spidery to be a part in the next Avengers outing.
So even if one is disappointed with the film when it does release, they can at least hold on to the hope that there will always be a chance to make up for it in the Avengers II.
