Using this efficiency, the total product loss is calculated as 0.06 x 348.5 = 2.091 k/hr, which equals 16560 kg/year (plant running for 330 days). The product is sold at £10/kg, which also includes further processing costs which
are about 50% of the product cost (packing, handling, transport, taxes etc). So the product cost at this stage is nearly £5/kg. This gives a total sum of 5 x 16560 = £82, 800 lost over the whole year while operating the cyclone.
This value is quite small when compared to the difference between capital and running costs of the cyclone and precipitator/bag. Therefore the use of Cyclone is preferred for economical processing.
Cost of Electrostatic precipitator (for required duty) = £872, 500
Cost of Cyclone (for required duty) = £365, 250

Air, Psychometric Data
Psychometric charts were used (attached) to find the humidity of the air at different temperatures. The Table 3.1 below gives all the values taken from the charts. The air is taken from atmosphere, heated to 300°C, then humidified
until it takes up the required moisture content from the cream
