Following the murder of former Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto (BB), the Government is on the verge of issuing red warrants for Pervez Musharraf.
The former president of the country is accused of murdering BB and is about the face the consequences as officials are set to forward the instructions to Interpol’s headquarters.
The orders will be forwarded by anti-terrorism court-I Rawalpindi which can ultimately result in the arrest of the accused.
It was reported by a senior official from the Interior Ministry that all the paper-work will be posted to the authorities in Geneva by February 29th, 2012.
The warrant will be sent via post and also through email. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik noted that Musharraf will be brought back to the country.
He also voiced that the former President will be arrested straight away even if he wishes to return back to Pakistan himself.
He was quoted as saying, “I assure this house that if he lands in Pakistan, he will be arrested because he is a proclaimed offender in the Benazir Bhutto murder case”.
“Pakistan People’s Party-led government never said that it would not take action
against Musharraf, while it is the responsibility of the federal government to give an order for registering a case against Musharraf, it is important for someone to register a complaint in this regard”, he continued.
Pakistan’s Senator, Raza Rabbani also submitted a charge sheet with ten main points suggesting the arrest of Pervez Musharraf.
It is indeed a very good move by the Government because Musharraf had always claimed that he is a ‘super patriot’ and everything he did and will do for is beneficial to only Pakistan.
If Musharraf is caught and is trialled for Bugti’s murder, this will go long way towards building Baloch confidence and trust in Pakistan.
Former president is currently enjoying a lavish life style in London but it appears as if he might have to face the music as Interpol is right on his case.
