Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene is happy to see that his team still has fair chances in the ongoing triangular series in Australia.

The islanders are currently in do-or-die situation, as they have to win their next game against Australia in order to qualify to the best-of-three finals.

The Aussies have already reached the finals whereas India’s fate is depending on Sri Lanka-Australia contest. If the Lankans fails to beat Australia, the Men In Blue will automatically go through to the finals.

Jayawardene is satisfied that the fate is still in Sri Lanka’s hands, as they are not depending on someone else.

"Going in to the last game it’s in our control, what we need to do. It’s a good position for us to be, rather than depending on someone else to do some favours for us," Jayawardene said.

He added, "From where we started on this tour, I think we’ve improved as a team and maintained a consistency. That’s very important for us going forward. Whatever happens tomorrow we will definitely get a lot of positives out of this. Our challenge will
be to try and keep this consistency going, because if we play the way we’re playing now … we’ll win more matches than we lose. We’re quite happy with that.”

When asked his team’s strategy for the next game, the classy right-hander hinted that the side will rely on all-rounders. He also described that there are many powerful all-round cricketers in the side and thus, they Lankans has decent chances of winning.

On his team’s strength, he shared, "Going forward we’ve always wanted to have two or three all-rounders in a team. These guys are taking responsibility. Plus (Farveez) Maharoof is a guy who can bat as well and he’s bowling pretty well, he just needs to have
a bit more confidence in his batting."

"All these three guys will be good options for us going forward. We just need a couple of spinning all-rounders to come through and we’ll have a really well balanced team."

Australia and Sri Lanka are scheduled to meet at MCG on Friday, March 2, 2012.
