Wladimir Klitschko in no mood to accept apologies from Dereck Chisora
Thursday, March 1st, 2012 5:07:22 by Imran Shaukat KhanWladimir Klitschko, who currently holds the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & Ring Magazine championship belts, is still fuming over former British heavyweight champion, Dereck Chisora, for using dirty publicity tactics and for embarrassing the sport.
Wladimir, more commonly known as Dr. Steelhammer, told the media some of the great champions like Joe, Louis, Muhammad Ali, Rocky Marciano, Larry Holmes, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis did a lot of hard work to make boxing as glamorous as possible but Chisora has spoiled the sport’s image once again.
The 6 ft 6 in Ukrainian giant insisted Chisora has not spit in his face rather he has spit in the face of all those champions who have done so much for the sport.
Wladimir said, “It’s really something that has damaged the legacy of boxing.”
He added, “With such behaviour he is spitting in their face, not in my face, but he’s spitting in the face of the history and the world champions and that is not acceptable.”
The 28-year-old Chisora lost to Vitali via a twelve round unanimous decision. However, in their weigh in he slapped Vitali in his face and when their fight was about to start he spit water at Wladimir’s face. Things didn’t end here, as in his post-fight press conference he fought with his fellow countryman David Haye, who is a former WBA heavyweight champion.
Due to all these things Chisora has been handed a life-time ban by the World Boxing Council.
Though Chisora publically apologised for whatever he did, Wladimir is in no mood to accept any apologies, as he thinks Chisora has done all this to get some relaxation.
“I heard some of the apologies that he mentioned almost the next day – I don’t believe in those apologies, I don’t accept those apologies. It’s something his advisors told him ‘man you got to say because it will help reduce your suspension’. Right now I don’t believe any apologies, and neither does my brother [Vitali]. There has to be consequences and I’m looking forward how it’s going to end up,” said Wladimir.

“Mike Tyson did alot to make boxing as glamorous as possible”….. Yes, by threatening to kill people, biting ears, fighting at weighins and by being a general bad-ass…..hmmmmm alot like Chisora. Think about it Imran!
Mike tyson is somebody where chisora was a nobody who quickly made a name for himself in this heaveyweight bout. Tyson was and still is the youngest undisputed heaveyweight champion of the world even before he started biting ears and threatening to kill people, regardless of all his bad actions only a small minority of people hated him but millions still love him. Its stupid to compare Tyson with chisora. I don’t think there is any boxer especially in the heaveyweight division that does’nt know Tyson. Tyson brought pure intimidation with intensity and force that made him unstoppable and ferocious. When tyson started fighting at weigh ins and biting ears, millions around the world still watched. So who is chisaora anyway? Glad Vitali got the win
