Islamabad: (Monday, March 05, 2012) Minister for foreign affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar said today that Pakistan could help the Afghan government in holding talks with the Taliban. She said that stability in the region
was in interest of Pakistan.
Stressing on the need for improving relations with Pakistan’s immediate neighbours, Khar said, “The situation in the region cannot improve without improving relations with the neighbours”.
Responding to a query about the NATO supplies through Pakistani air, the Foreign Minister said that their aerial passage had never been blocked. However, she said that the decision to reopen the supply routes lie there with the
Parliament.
She said, “I had informed US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton that the NATO supply route issue would be decided by Parliament.”
