Harbhajan Singh eyeing return to Team India
Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 12:13:02 by Rana Nasir GhafoorIndian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that he cannot wait anymore to regain his place in Team India, insisting that he still wants to serve his country.
"I can’t wait to be there. It’s still there in me. God willing, I will be getting back to the place I deserve," Harbhajan said.
The aggressive off-spinner has been out of favour since India’s terrible tour to England, where the side suffered a humiliating 4-0 whitewash defeat.
On the recent crucial tour to Australia, Bhajji was overlooked despite being the most experienced spin bowler.
Many cricket pundits argue that Harbhajan’s time is over, but the offie is not ready to lose hope.
He shared that he did a lot of hard work on his bowling and fitness during last few months and he is raring to go.
"There has been a lot of improvement in terms of body positioning. I have worked a lot at the NCA. I am totally fit and happy with the way things are going at the moment…played five competitive matches," said Harbhajan.
He added, "I have been looking to bowl in good rhythm, wickets will come then. I have been injured a lot. I had a sheen spleen and before that muscle pull in my stomach. I am happy to be playing after many injuries. It’s good to be on the ground.”
During the time of his exclusion, the 31-year-old led Mumbai Indians to an emphatic win the Champion League T20. However, that did not change selectors’ opinion about him, as they kept ignoring him for the national setup.
So far in his career, the Punjabi has served India in 98 Tests, scalping 406 wickets. He also has 259 one-day wickets to his name. He has been doing a great work at the domestic level, aiming to impress the selectors.
Talking about the conditions at Palam ground, Harbhajan said, "The two grounds (in Palam), (they) are very hard, a lot of boys are getting hit while fielding. That’s what I meant to say. As a cricketer, I think the facility should be as good as any ground
for first-class cricket. The facilities can be made better."
