David Haye confirms world title fight with Vitali Klitschko is on

Former WBA heavyweight champion, David Haye, has claimed that his world title fight with the current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is still on.

Haye, who is more commonly known as the Hayemaker, confirmed the news last night on the micro-blogging site Twitter that Vitali has agreed to fight him for the WBC heavyweight title.

Haye tweeted: “Vitali has just finally agreed to fight me in a live RTL interview!!! He told me I will be his next fight!! Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!!! :D”.

Moreover, Vitali aka ‘Dr. Ironfist’ also didn’t deny the news when he was asked about it.

“Maybe in the next couple of months Klitschko will fight David Haye. Maybe. It will be a great fight,” Vitali said.

David Haye fought with Vitali’s younger brother, Wladimir Klitschko, the current WBO (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion, at the Hamburg’s Football Stadium in Germany last year on July 2.

It was a much-anticipated unification fight for the heavyweight titles and Haye made a lot of promises ahead of it but on the fight night the Brit suffered a humiliating twelve round unanimous decision loss to the Ukrainian.

The 31-year-old brash Londoner than walked away from the sport after Wladimir refused to offer him a rematch. However, he always said that he will make a comeback, if he gets a fight with any of the Klitschko brothers.

Previously, it was being assumed that Haye-Vitali fight wouldn’t generate much revenue. Nevertheless, things are different now because Haye’s recent brawl with the former British Heavyweight Champion, Dereck Chisora, has once again brought him under the main lights.

Dereck Chisora, who recently lost to Vitali, has been handed with an indefinite ban by the World Boxing Council for threatening to ‘physically shoot’ David Haye. Nonetheless, the charges were not brought against Haye since he officially announced his retirement in October last year.

Well, all said and done, David Haye versus Vitali Klitschko will certainly be a good fight for the fans but let’s see if the much-anticipated fight really gets made.
