Google’s Android remains the underdog in the mobile computing market – Part 1

This might sound a little offensive but Google, Inc.’s mobile operating system is an underdog in both smartphone and tablet markets. Though it might have snatched a big chunk of market share from Apple in the former market but in terms of quality it still chases the tail of iOS—Android’s counterpart developed by Apple.

The smoothness, clarity and application performance all vouch for the iOS, be it smartphones or tablets. On the other hand, Google can produce a cheap solution in the aforesaid industry with a number of flaws and bugs that make it Windows of the mobile computing.

Microsoft, at the same time, has produced a light and efficient operating system called Windows Phone. However, due to the late arrival into the competition, the company is still living on the morsels of the competition between Android and iOS. Although Windows Phone smartphones are synonymous to inexpensive handsets, its market share is still diminutive as compared to iOS and Android.

However, the talk here is about the performance comparison between Apple’s operating system and its foe created by Google. Apple cannot ignore the 800-pound gorilla in the room because Android still has the potential of becoming one of the best OS in the world, see how they pulled off the latest version 4 or Ice Cream Sandwich, whichever you prefer.

The quality perk undoubtedly goes in favour of Apple as it has always produced a better looking, efficient multi-tasking and bugs-free operating system since the launch of the original iPhone, though the handset contained the mobile version of Mac OS.

The standard Apple has set in the last few years will be hard to surpass for Google as the Cupertino-based company reserves all the rights to approving and rejecting any application that does not fulfil the requisites. On the flip side, Android works on open-sourced business model and anyone or anybody for the matter can use the OS on their handset or tablet.
