In early 2011, a shocking video went viral showing Russian “baby yoga” guru Lena Fokina recklessly twirling and swinging a tiny infant around.
Babies as young as two weeks old were shown being flung around the therapist’s head, spinning by their wrists and ankles in her bizarre ‘baby yoga’ routine.
In a short interview to a new video by a British media company Barcroft TV, the 51-year-old is seen teaching parents her techniques in Dahab, Egypt.
Mothers are willingly handing their infants to Fokina and she swings them around then giving them to try themselves.
In her videos, the babies can be heard crying and while most babies vomited during or after and were left screaming in tears, Fokina insists in her interviews that it is for their benefit.
The qualified PE teacher says ‘baby yoga’ is beneficial, relaxing, strengthens their joints and helps babies develop fasters than others. “They are early readers, singers, talkers, swimmers. You haven’t seen anything like it anywhere!” she told DadWagon.com in an interview.
She continued, “It’s very good for babies and not dangerous at all. Some babies cry at first, but they begin to enjoy it”.
“Most people think young babies can only lie on a bed, eat, and cry. But babies are born with natural reflexes, which we can use to help them develop physically and intellectually”.
“I work with parents from across Europe. I hope soon I will be working with a family in England. I think there are a number of open-minded parents there whose babies could benefit from my work.”
The video horrified most of the users and was taken off by YouTube citing the violation of their policy. The website restricted the clip by stating that it breaches their policy of “shocking and distinguishing content”
Tossing a baby lightly in the air to make her giggle is one thing, but risking brain damage and “shaken baby syndrome” by swinging them around like a bag of potatoes is another.
Not to mention, what would have happened if the parent just accidently lose their grip.
Fokina remained unremorseful, insisting she has practiced for more than 30 years including on her own five children.
Lena lives in Russia but visits Dahab on regular occasions with her two daughters. She works full-time and give seminars all across the world but claims that she does not work for profit.
She has also revealed that her children are now practicing the same techniques on their own children and the art is hence flourishing within the family.

I think this is child abuse. This is pretty dangerous. Why risk the possibility of harming a infant by tossing it like that? I don’t care what studies say it helps. It’s just plain SICK! Hopefully you don’t leave your country with that crap. . .it won’t sit so well with parents in my country. I think child services should get involved. In any other country you would be locked up so this isn’t making much sense to me why in your country they are allowing it smhhh. . .yous must not care for the children there ( My thoughts)
Take a look at this ……….. Tell me thats not abuse ?? This being taught to others is so dangerous to the childs well being.. Look when the phone rings , says it all she just dumps baby on the bed after tossing it around . ITS A SICK ACT OF CHILD ABUSE “
