American singer, song-writer, and pianist, Aretha Franklin is regarded as the the Queen of Soul. She was recently interviewed by the famous magazine Rolling Stone, where Franklin discussed the late Whitney Houston. She regretted the loss of an amazing singer
but at the same time issued a strict note of caution to today’s reining stars including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and other chart-topping acts.
She stated, "I would like to take this moment to caution young artists the same way that my dad cautioned me when I reached my peak. He said, "No matter how good you are, and no matter how successful you are, one day, the applause is going to die down. One
day the hallelujahs and the amens are going to stop. One day, the fans might not be there. So know what you’re going to do when that day comes.”
It is quite evident that the Queen of Soul tried to covey a great message. According to Franklin, Whitney Houston had to put up great struggle when she "lost the top range of her voice" and fans promptly changed. They stopped applauding and responding the
way they had for Houston in past years. But, she insisted Houston was a fighter, she refused to give up.
"On her last tour, she had lost the top range of her voice, and some of the audiences were not very kind. But night after night, she stood there like a champion and gave her very best," Franklin recalls.
Hence, all these news chart-topping and currently hit singers should take this very fact into consideration that one day they might be having a total different response from their fans. So be modest! J
