Our negligence towards dissident families
Thursday, March 8th, 2012 12:37:28 by Faisal FarooqDespite wide and large cries, the issue of missing people has been somewhere in the air for quite some time now. Sometimes media chose to talk about it and sometimes not.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, a few days back, ordered the intelligence agencies to show up of the missing persons. Only seven out of uncounted were brought before the apex court in quite a disappointing condition.
Two out seven were brothers and sons of a woman whose eldest son had already lost his life at the hands of secret agencies. The two brothers could not walk themselves when they were appeared before the court; their mother could not bear to see her children in such a condition, losing her life of a cardiac arrest in the very next day.
Every day we read or hear about causalities, however, such news items where our military, supposedly the only active and working institution that we have, is involved in atrocious incidents like this is moment of concerns for the masses.
Who will answer for the disaster that those numerous people are facing in the present scenario? Who will answerable for those countless grieved families who have nowhere to go to?
Where will we seek justice if this system of justice gets this late every time? Who will answer the years of tears that mothers have shed and then see their children one last time in a condition unbearable?
The above mentioned questions are necessary to be replied if we want to improve the situation.
Although some political parties raised finger on the government and the uncontrolled army and intelligence agencies, they are getting united to resolve the issue. The PML-N, which continually speaks against the military influence, has finally attempted to reach out to people through case of these missing persons.
The point to be concerned is that who will control this entire saga, the security establishment and secret agencies.
However, the politicians started feeling that the true democracy cannot be flourished unless steps are taken in this regard.
