Friday, March 9th, 2012 4:07:53 by Zeeshan GoharAfter successful semi-final victories against Muhammad Sajjad and Muhammad Asif respectively, Iran’s Hossein Vafaei Ayouri and Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh have finally made their way
into the final encounter of the 2012 Jubilee Insurance 7-Nation International Snooker Championship at the Pearl Continental Hotel arena in Karachi.
The pair had a great campaign in the tournament to make their way successfully into the final encounter. However, during their event campaign, the pair met some of the toughest opponents
in their quarters and semis but still they managed to keep their form alive. Both Ayouri and Un-Nooh have professional experience of playing in the international circuit and know how to handle pressure.
The Iranian National Champion, Ayouri began the competition as one of the hot favourites to claim the tournament title. The current World U-21 Snooker Champion proved his snooker skills
during his campaign when he defeated Pakistan’s Naveen Parwani in the initial round of the tournament. Winning his initial round robin matches showed his ambition of coming into the event.
He played terrifically to reach the quarter-finals of the event where he beat Pakistan’s Abdul Sattar 5-0. He faced Muhammad Sajjad in the semi-final clash. The clash was expected to be
the thriller as both Sajjad and Ayouri were top players of the event.
Sajjad pushed Ayouri down in the first round of the match but Ayouri pulled back brilliantly to move neck and neck with the Pakistani potter and finally claim the victory.
On the other hand, Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh started the tournament run impressively and was able to earn his place in the finals. In the round robin formatted matches, he defeated
the tournament semi-finalist, Muhammad Sajjad and defeated him 4-1 to move into the advanced stages.
Muhammad Asif was one of the favourites to win the title but he could not play up the expectations of the people of Pakistan. Besides, Asif was the only hope left for the hoist country
to keep the title but he failed to perform according to the hops of Pakistani people and tumbled down by 6-2.
The ultimate contest will be a thriller because both participants are on top of their game and have played impressively throughout the championship.
