Apple announces the 2012 model of Apple TV – Part 1

Until the rumoured television that the company might release in the next half of calendar 2012 with 4K resolution, all of its devices have 1080p resolution. At the March 7 the company announced the next model of the Apple TV set-top box.
The new device has a slew of new features but most important and attractive amongst them is the 1080p resolution capability. Apple TV was the only device that could not run full-HD videos but no anymore. The new set-top box has a number of other new features as well and we will go through all of them one by one.
But first the company announcement for all those who have older models of device. Apple announced that software update to upgrade the iOS to iOS 5 embedded in Apple TV 2012 model, will be available as of March 7 but the only drawback in the older models will be video quality as the 2nd generation model and former ones have the capability of rendering 720p video. That is more of a hardware restriction than software. The new model has a revamped graphic card with an upgraded CPU.
Following are features that the new Apple TV will have on it when it hits the market on March 16 with the same $99 off the shelf.

The video quality made the news more than anything else at the show as it was stolen by the new iPad, launched on the same day.
However, the new Apple TV will not only have the capability if full HD 1080p video input but it will also be able to run the same resolution videos right off the internet and peripheral devices like iPad and iPhone.
