Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan has said that he will quit politics if it is proved that his party is backed by the military or civil establishment of the country.
PTI emerged as a major political force in the country last year after it held massive processions in Lahore and Karachi. Imran has also become one of the most popular political leaders of the country and it is widely expected that his party is going to give
a tough time to the two mainstream political parties, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Mulsim League (N).
However, different political entities in the country have accused that PTI is being promoted by establishment and it does not enjoy a lot of public support.
While talking about the on-going Mehran Bank Scandal case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Imran expressed that it is proved that the leadership of PML (N) and some other politicians have taken money from Inter-Services Intelligence in past. Imran further
claimed that he will leave the world of politics if it is proved that he has ever taken funding from establishment.
On the other side of the coin, Imran believes that the current regime of PPP is the worst government in the history of the country and it has enjoyed full support of PML (N) in looting the country. The cricketer turned politician is of the opinion that the
two major parties have joined hands to counter the tsunami of PTI, but he claims that no political force can now come in the way of his party’s success.
Chairman PTI said, "The leaders of PPP and PML-N are united to protect their money and power. Both the party heads have joined hands to bring a caretaker set-up that will take care of their interests. Zardari and Sharif both together cannot defeat the PTI.”
The next general elections in the country are going to be held later this year or in the first half of 2013. It remains to be seen that Imran enjoys public support in the elections or not but it is quite evident that majority of the educated class of Pakistan
wishes well to Imran and his party.
