Islamabad: (Monday, March 12, 2012) Former envoy to United States, Hussain Haqqani, although has accepted having contacts with Mansoor Ijaz, however, he has denied playing a role in writing the letter seeking US intervention to
avert a military coup in Pakistan after May 2 incident.
Submitting his reply before the Supreme Court commission through his counsel Sajid Tanoli, Haqqani admitted that he had contacts with Mansoor Ijaz, however, he never discussed the memo issue with him.
He said he was not provided access to the actual records presented by Mansoor Ijaz before the apex court during his testimony through video conference from London.
The former envoy to the US has also provided the Supreme Court commission his phone bills from May to November 2011.
Stating that there was no apparent proof supporting the claims made by Mansoor Ijaz against his client, Tanoli maintained that access to authentic records was still required.
Haqqani’s counsel also submitted over hundred articles written by Ijaz against Pakistan’s nuclear programme and security agencies.
