Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan believes that youth is the real power of his party and he is now focusing on expanding the membership of PTI and wants the youngsters to take part in it.
The cricketer turned politician has emerged as one of the most popular political figures in the country since last eight years. However, his party failed to make an impression on the political scene of Pakistan but the situation has changed drastically after
PTIs massive public processions in Lahore and Karachi last year.
Since then, a number of orthodox politicians of the country have joined PTI and the situation has somehow caused trouble for Imran’s inexperienced party.
However, the Chairman PTI announced on Sunday that his party has decided to launch a massive membership campaign and further claimed that the members of the party will chose their leadership, which is according to the true spirit of democracy.
Imran said, “PTI will now try to target the youth specifically, aiding them in their procurement of the party’s membership. These incoming members will have the power to elect the party’s ticket-holders for the next general elections. Elections will be organized
to ensure complete transparency in choosing party leaders.”
Showing the strength of character, Imran admitted that he faced a big challenge in handling the situation which occurred after 30th of October, 2011 and expressed, “PTI went through a transformative phase as it became totally different afterwards.”
There have been reports about rifts within the party on some basic issues and that the likes of Shah Mahmood Qureshi and some other politicians are not happy with the attitude of the party towards them. However, the Chairman has denied all such rumors.
“There are no differences among the party’s top leadership,” he claimed.
Some of the political figures of the country accuse Imran that he has the backing of the military establishment but the Chairman PTI had dismissed all such claims and said that it is no more than rubbish. He expressed that the on-going Mehran Bank case in
the Supreme Court of Pakistan is going to prove that which parties have had the support of the establishment in past.
“Those who are part and parcel of the establishment’s workings have been named in the Mehran-gate scandal,“ Imran added.
