Pakistan senior actress Tahira Wasti passes away
Monday, March 12th, 2012 10:21:54 by Zeeshan GoharTahira Wasti, the most senior TV artist, passed away on March 11 in Karachi at the age of 68. She was ill for quite a while and was admitted to the hospital a week before her death.
She was one of the attracted, recognized and talented TV drama artists in Pakistan. Wasti was the wife of actor Rizwan Wasti and the mother of the actress Laila Wasti. Both Rizwan and Tahira worked together in many PTV drama serials and earned utmost respect and appreciation across the country.
Tahira Wasti started her career with writing articles in a magazine at the age of 16. In her long TV career, she has done marvelous job acting in countless Pakistani drams and teletheatre. Her acting in different dramas was a thing to remember. She started her career from PTV and STN dramas in the year 1968. She became a well-known face of Television Drama world after her performances in a couple of famous TV serials.
She acted in a play ‘jaib qatra’ early in her career. The serial was based on a short story written by Saadat Hassan Manto. This drama opened a new horizon of success for her. Tahira Wasti also acted in the leading roles of many drama serials like Kashkol, Shama, Shaheen, and Aakhri Chatan that became the symbol of her acting personality.
Due to her performance on TV and theatre in the late 80s, she became one of the famous showbiz personalities who earned great appreciation in the country even after her marriage. May Allah bless her soul.
