What the 4G indicator on the iPhone 4S screen really means? It means nothing – Part 4
Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 6:24:28 by Usman KhalidFurthermore, there have been a number of users stating that they have seen a dramatic change in the performance of their 4Ss, but in reality, there is none. For most part, the new update is all but performance upgrading. It is mainly focused on eradicating the bugs out of the operating system, like the dropped calls and battery drain problems.
Following are the issues addressed in the 5.1 update, along with some new features.
- The dropped calls issue has been solved.
- The battery now lasts whole day, connected to the 3G network; just like the iPhone 4.
- Siri now understands and speaks Japanese.
- Updates to the Photo Stream cloud photo capability now allow users to delete photos from the stream after they’ve been uploaded.
- A camera shortcut has been added so that users can take a picture from a locked iPhone screen.
- Face detection has been added which highlights faces when users snap images.
- Improved audio on the iPad was also added so users can get louder and clearer audio when watching video or listening to music.
- iTunes Match subscribers will now get Genius Mix and Genius playlist suggestions.
- New podcast controls have been added for the iPad offering new controls for changing the playback speed on podcasts and rewinding for 30-second segments.
- And finally, the Updated AT&T network indicator now reads “4G” instead of 3G.
Therefore, any illusion that the iOS 5.1 inoculated the users with, should wipe out clean. The new update is nothing but a remedy to bugs in the original iOS 5, and fills up the holes left in October-released OS.
As for 4G network, to date there is not a single device from Apple that works on the 4G LTE network, the only technology that can be called 4G, until the new iPad (third generation) shores up in the market. According to Apple, it has the new LTE chip nestled in the circuitry.
