Sargodha: (Wednesday, March 14, 2012) Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s former MPA Aslam Madhana is remanded in police custody for one day. Alleged for brutally beating and fracturing both the legs of an elderly school teacher, Madhana’s
remand has been issued by a session judge.
Police requested for a remand arguing that they had to recover weapons from accused’s possession.
While conceding to the demand for remand, the court ordered the police to produce Madhana before an Anti Terrorism Court tomorrow.
Yesterday, the Police arrested Aslam Madhana late night from Johar Town. Earlier, the former MPA’s interim bail was cancelled by the Lahore High Court for allegedly being involved in torturing a school teacher’s case.
Nafees Ahmed – the school teacher, who was under treatment, was also brought to the Lahore High Court on a stretcher. After yesterday’s hearing, Nafees said that he had no hope of getting justice, but the hearing had revived the
hope in him.
If the high-up will keep backing the thieves, how the commoners will get justice, questioned Nafees Ahmed in presence of the journalists.
According to the First Information Report, the accused, along with his stooges, attacked the school teacher as he had raised objection against the former MPA’s criminal acts.
Taking suo moto notice of the incident, the Supreme Court has also sought a detail report from all four provincial chief secretaries about steps taken to protect the civil servants. The said reports will be presented on March 28.
